Former Laker pockets $1.5M in Manhattan Beach

Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Devean George sold his three-bedroom, two-bath at 13 Bridgeport in Manhattan Beach to Robert and Nancy Wagman for $1.5 million on Jan. 15.

George paid $1.199 million for the property in Dec. 2002.

George, 31, is currently in his third year with the Dallas Mavericks and ninth overall in the NBA. He was originally drafted in the first round of the 1999 NBA Draft by the Lakers and went on to play seven seasons in Los Angeles, where he was part of the three-time defending champion squads from 2000-02. He started a career high 48 games during the 2003-04 season and appeared in all 82 games that year, posting career highs in points and rebounds.

He signed a two-year deal with the Mavericks as a free agent in Aug. 2006 and has since been a regular off the bench in Dallas for the past three seasons. Originally from Minnesota, he played college ball at NCAA Division III school Augustana in Minneapolis.

Mr. Wagman is a founding partner at Quintile Investment Advisors, LLC, a Los Angeles-based wealth management firm.
Prior to co-founding the company, Mr. Wagman was managing director at the Los Angeles office of myCFO. Previous to that, he served as a partner and as national director of the advisory services practice at with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP.

There were 317 sales in Manhattan Beach in 2008, with a median price of $1.55 million.
