North Carolina ostrich farmer sells Trump Plaza condo

Madeleine J. Calder and Joan Alleman sold a two-bedroom, three bath condo at 529 South Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach to Abraham Bernstein for $910,000 on June 26.

Calder and Alleman bought Unit #2608 for $800,000 in Nov. 2004. The unit is one of 232 in the Trump Plaza of the Palm Beaches.

Calder is the owner of the Blue Heaven Ostrich Ranch in Washington County, N.C., and the creator of Pasta L'Autruche, the ranch's signature ostrich-stuffed ravioli dish. Patrons can order a number of ostrich dishes through the company's web site or at the farm itself.

Before starting ostrich raising, Calder was in the real estate business in Manhattan.

Built in 1986, the Trump Plaza of the Palm Beaches is 26 stories high.

Condo sales in West Palm Beach dropped 52 percent in 2007 versus sales in 2006. The median sales price remained the same at $255,000.
