Influential gallery owner lived in this building

Gallery owner and proponent of Abstract Expressionism, Charles Egan, lived in this building in 1967. He was central to a small but influential group including such names as Guggenheim. Egan advanced early Abstract Expressionism by showing the works of major artists including de Kooning, Mark Rothko, and Isamu Noguchi. de Kooning's first one-man exhibition was at Egan's gallery in 1948. He passed away in 1993.
