The house where Kurt Cobain committed suicide

On April 8, 1994, police entered this home and found the body of rock icon Kurt Cobain in the spare room above the garage, lying next to a shot gun, days after the former Nirvana frontman suffered an apparently self-inflicted shot gun wound to the head. This home is often a pilgrimage for rock fans visiting Seattle. Cobain and his wife, fellow rocker Courtney Love, purchased the property for more than $1 million in January of 1994, a few months before Nirvana would play its last concert on March 1, 1994, at the Terminal Einz in Munich, Germany. Three songs into that concert, Cobain lost his voice and a doctor told him to rest for four weeks. Nirvana burst onto the pop music scene with their release of Nevermind behind the success of the immensely popular single "Smells Like Teen Spirit." The band released its last studio album, In Utero , in September of 1993.
