Intellectual property lawyer buys Near West Side 2BD

Medium 61cb5fe033b2307b1444220c710f87df Martin Masar bought a two-bedroom, two-bath condo at 203 S. Sangamon St. on the Near West Side from Leonore and Shane Kranov for $375,000 on Sept. 4.

The 1,445-square-foot Unit #308 is part of the Beacon Lofts condominium development, which was built in 1915.

Mr. Masar is an associate at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, a full-service law firm. He is connected with the firm's intellectual property practice. He previously served as an industrial liaison and scientific officer for the International Institute for Nanotechnology at Northwestern University. He began his career in patent law for an independent intellectual property firm as a technical specialist and patent agent.

He earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Gettysburg College, his Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry from Northwestern University and his J.D. from the DePaul University College of Law.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 248 condo sales on the Near West Side in 2008, with a median sales price of $306,000.
