Dr. Leslie Erin Bernstein and Jeffrey R. Bernstein sold a four-bedroom, 5.5-bath home at 49 E. Division St. in Gold Coast to David and Marcy Gookin for $1.7 million on Sept. 11.

Mr. Bernstein bought the property for $860,000 in May 2001. The 3,462-square-foot house was built in 1906.

Dr. Bernstein is a dermatologist in Chicago.

She earned her M.D. from the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science in 2000. She completed her residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals.

Mr. Bernstein is the president and chief executive officer of Winston Laboratories in Vernon Hills. He first joined Winston Labs in 2001 and he held senior positions until he became chief operating officer in 2005. He previously taught at the University of Wisconsin.

He graduated from Amherst College and earned an A.M. and Ph.D. in business economics from Harvard University.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 581 home sales in Gold Coast in 2008, with a median sales price of $353,500.
