Investment firm president, professor sell in Kenilworth

Medium a296db290f7a97f69097c1df3943e5d1 Omer and Karen Ahmed sold a two-bath home at 405 Sterling Rd. in Kenilworth to Danielle and Andrew Boros for $627,500 on Sept. 3.

The 2,511-square-foot house in the West Kenilworth neighborhood was built 1942.

Mr. Ahmed is the president at Abaris Capital Advisors, a Chicago-based investment management firm specializing in alternative asset management portfolios. Prior to that, he was a senior managing director at Bear Stearns, president at Crescent Capital Management LLC, a senior vice president at Credit Agricole Indosuez and he held senior management positions at Merrill Lynch International and ABN AMRO Private Banking.

He earned his bachelor's in psychology from Washington University and completed his post graduate studies in investment decisions and behavioral finance at the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government.

Ms. Ahmed is an assistant professor of finance and management at DePaul University. She is also a member of the advisory committee of the university's center for financial services. Prior to receiving her Ph.D., she worked in the banking sector in Chicago and for Shuaa Capital in Dubai.

She earned her B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from Washington University and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 18 home sales in Kenilworth in 2008, with a median sales price of $926,750.
