The 2,129-square-foot house, which was built in 1980, is in the Central Arlington Heights neighborhood.

Mr. Sharer is a collector at the Wheeling Township Democratic Organization in Arlington Heights. He also serves as member on the executive board of the Arlington Heights Sunrise Rotary Club and as an officer at the Arlington Heights Senior Center Inc. He had worked as a materials manager at William Wrigley Jr. Co.

Mrs. Sharer has been a French teacher at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 753 sales in Arlington Heights in 2008, with a median price of $280,000.
