The Balgemanns acquired the property for $141,000 in Aug. 1995. The 1,461-square-foot house was built in 1949 in the Elmhurst South neighborhood.

Ms. Balgemann is a music teacher at Spring Hills School.

Mr. Balgemann serves as the freedom of information officer at the Office of the DuPage County Auditor in Wheaton.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 372 home sales in Elmhurst during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $339,000.
