Mr. Mertes is vice president of marketing at Schaumburg-based USFilter Corp., a division of the Siemens Company. He has a B.A. in marketing from the University of Wisconsin and a M.A. in marketing from Northwestern.

The Mertes also own a condo at 1500 N. LaSalle, Unit #2B.
