Peter Clerkin bought a three-bedroom, two bath high-rise condo at 1920 N. Clark for $549,000 on Sept. 5 from Derek and Maria Steelberg.

The Steelbergs paid $376,000 for Unit #11A in April 2000. The sale lasted 45 days on the market and sold for its list price.

Mr. Clerkin, 47, is the managing director of investment advisor McDonnell Investment Management, LLC in the northwest suburb of Oak Brook. A Colby College (ME) graduate, he's held past positions at Van Kampen Management Inc., the New England Investment Companies, and Evaluation Associates, Inc.

Built in 1974, 1920 N. Clark has 17 stories and 43 units, each with its own balcony. The average sale price for units in the high rise is $399,075.
