Research assistant settles in Evanston

Denise Shawgo-Manley and Todd Manley bought a two-bedroom, 1.5-bath home at 2717 Ewing Ave. in Evanston from Jean Free for $425,000 on Nov. 22.

Free paid $390,000 for the property in December 2004. The 1,068-square-foot home in Central Street was built in 1902.

According to her public LinkedIn profile, Shawgo-Manley is a freelance research assistant at Slover Linett Strategies, a research and evaluation firm for the cultural sector. She previously worked as a manager and buyer at the Four Seasons Shop in Chicago.

She has a B.S. in fashion merchandising and design from Southern Illinois University and a master's degree in history from Northern Illinois University. She also holds a fashion design certificate from Paris American Academy.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 757 home sales in Evanston during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $325,000.
