Architect, designer opts for 2BD condo in Boerum Hill

Medium b2012a44abf5e1c538be33aaf68a53f8 David Malina and wife, Emma Hamilton Malina, bought a two-bedroom, 1.5-bath condo at 44 Bergen St. in Brooklyn from Erick M. Schonfeld and Nadia S. Ghannam for $865,000 on Sept. 18.

Schonfeld and Ghannam bought Unit #8 is in a low-rise residential condo building in the neighborhood of Boerum Hill.

Mr. Malina, a Swiss designer, is creative director at ChappsMalina, a design studio in New York City.

Before co-founding the design firm, he has already worked for design firms in California, Boston and New York City. Some of the brands he has worked with are Samsung, Electrolux and Polaroid.

He studied architecture at the ETH in Zurich, Switzerland before attending Art Center College in Pasadena.

The development at 44 Bergen St., which was built in 1931, has nine units on four levels.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 4,717 sales in Brooklyn in 2008, with median sales price of $450,000.
