Architect acquires Brooklyn condo from professor

Medium e89732ec72978c2669ead8d773b7ca45 Nelson Y. Chew bought a condo at 135 Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn from Josef Sorett for $269,000 on Sept. 15.

The condo was built in 1922 in the Windsor Terrace neighborhood.

Chew is a project architect at TCS Design, an architectural and interior design company.

He previously was a job captain at Ted Moudis Associates and, before that, worked as a CAD manager at Facilities Planning Collaborative Inc.

Mr. Sorett is an assistant professor at Columbia University's Department of Religion.

He is an interdisciplinary historian of religion in America that focuses on black communities and cultures in the United States.

He completed B.S. in health and exercise science and M.D. in religion and literature at Oral Roberts University and Boston University, respectively. He also received his Ph.D. in African American studies from Harvard University.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 1,576 condo sales in Brooklyn in 2008, with a median sales price of $280,000.
