Political professor grabs 3BD townhome in Schuylkill

Medium dc9a5273475878c8ee1bda8cf1d04ba6 Joel Oestreich bought a three-bedroom, one-bath townhome at 1938 Pemberton St. in Philadelphia from Lisa J. Meltzer for $305,000 on Oct. 18.

Meltzer paid $335,000 for the property in May 2005. The 900-square-foot house was built in 1925 in Schuylkill.

Mr. Oestreich is associate professor of political science specializing in international relations and director of International Area Studies program at Drexel University.

He holds a Ph.D. in political science from Brown University and received his M.Phil. in international relations from Oxford University, and his B.A. in history and government from Cornell University.

Ms. Meltzer is an assistant professor of clinical psychology in pediatrics at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

She received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Pomona College and her M.S. and Ph.D. in clinical and health psychology from the University of Florida.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 17,235 home sales in Philadelphia during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $96,000.
