Former New York educational ambassador sells in Laurelton

Medium bf75efedc2edc0ad314b47b665e612e7 Annie L. Clerk and Osbern B. Clerk sold a home at 130-06 227th St. in Laurelton to Alana Paige Bell for $362,000 on Sept. 1.

The 1,456-square-foot house was built in 1930.

Dr. Clerk is a visiting professor at Shorter College in Atlanta. In her career in New York, she served as a teacher, administrator, and an educational consultant. She also worked as a professor of education and chair of the division of special education at the City University of New York.

She also served on the President's Committee for People with Disabilities for 20 years, under Presidents Ronald Regan, George H.W. Bush, and Bill Clinton.

She holds a B.S. in elementary education from Claflin University, an M.A. in curriculum development and teacher education, a master's of education degree in special education, and a doctor of education degree in administration and supervision, all from Columbia University. She also holds a professional diploma in English linguistics from Oxford University.

According to, there were 143 home sales in Laurelton in 2008, with a median sales price of $364,950.
