Venture firm principal pockets $4.235M in Trump Tower

Medium 19ce57c9b1258cb95c46aee89e149d84 Russell Planitzer and Barrie Fiske sold a 2,835-square-foot condo at 845 United Nations Plaza in Midtown East/Turtle Bay to The Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the UN for $4.235 million on Aug. 21.

Mr. Planitzer and Mr. Fiske paid $3,395,935 for the property in June 2004. Unit #47B is one of 369 in the Trump World Tower, which stands 70 stories high.

Mr. Planitzer is a co-founder and a managing principal at Lazard Technology Partners LLC, a New York venture firm dedicated to the investment of creating leading information technology and technology-enabled businesses.

He also serves as chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors at New River, a company that offers document and data solutions to top-tier brokerage firms, retirement service providers, and variable annuity distributors. He has previously served as a general partner at JH Whitney, and as chairman and chief executive officer of Computervision.

He holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and a bachelor's in mechanical engineering from the United States Naval Academy.

According to, there were 188 condo sales in Midtown East/Turtle Bay in 2008, with a median sales price of $750,000.
