Attorney, housing specialist deal on Carnegie Hill

Medium c13f651783753b9f5c3d1a46f07d8a76 David G. Sewell and Alexandra M. Sewell sold the two-bedroom, 1.5-bath condo Unit #4C at 170 E. 88th St. in Carnegie Hill to Diane L. Blessinger for $960,000 on Sept. 14.

The Sewells paid $935,000 for the property in Oct. 2006.

Mr. Sewell is an attorney who has worked with Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler LLP in New York City. He earned his B.A. from Wesleyan College and his J.D. from Georgetown University.

Ms. Sewell serves as the chief of staff and associate commissioner for Communications and Federal Affairs at the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development. She has been with the department since 2006.

Before working with HPD, she served as professional staff on the Senate Appropriations Committee. She also worked as a policy analyst for the National Alliance to End Homelessness and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. She received her B.A. in history and government from Georgetown University and completed her master's in public policy from the University of Southern California.

There are 39 units in the five-story building at 170 E. 88th St., which is also known as 217 W. 25th St. It was built in 1980.

According to, there were 60 condo sales in Carnegie Hill in 2008, with a median sales price of $1,164,750.
