Hedge fund principal spends $8.9M on the Upper East Side

Medium acf50337741c53f0370bb9ae819769d8 Paul Orlin and Victoria Orlin bought a five-bedroom, 7.5-bath condo at 1016 Fifth Ave. on the Upper East Side from Seymour Zises and Cathy Zises for $8.9 million on Sept. 10.

Unit #2AB is one of the 60 in the 15-story condo development at 1016 5th Ave.

Mr. Orlin is a general partner and principal at Porter Orlin LLC, a privately-owned hedge fund sponsor based in New York. With over 15 years of experience in investments and banking, he had worked at Walsh, Greenwood & Co. and Goldman Sachs & Co.

He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Harvard University.

Ms. Zises has been associate director for major gifts at Barnard College in New York City, where she earned her B.A. degree in art history. She also holds an M.B.A. in marketing from Columbia Business School.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 174 condo sales on the Upper East Side in 2008, with median sales price of $959,500.
