UW external affairs VP opts for University District 3BD

Medium 951a904b3c910b6251274bc467f67ee3 John F. Hodgins and Tina H. Hodgins bought a three-bedroom, two-bath home at 4816 Pullman Ave. N.E. in University District from Alison Evans Kinder for $685,000 on Sept. 11.

The 2,370-square-foot house was built in 1941 in the Hawthorne Hills subdivision.

Mr. Hodgins is vice president of external affairs at the University of Washington. He was appointed to the position in Sept. 2008.

He previously was the university's state relations director. Before that, he worked for the Washington State Senate Ways and Means Committee as senior staff coordinator, where he served for eight years. Earlier, he worked for the Environmental Protection Agency as management analyst and as a program analyst for the California State Legislature.

He also co-authored two regional popular culture books, entitled, Seattle on Film and Wet and Wired: A Pop Culture Encyclopedia of the Pacific Northwest.

He received his degree in general studies and his M.P.A. from the University of Washington.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 379 home sales in University District in 2008, with a median sales price of $580,000.
