Lawyers trade Southwest Seattle 3BD

Medium 88c4c22f2ea5e1ef0a4abc42cc949d4a Terence J. Scanlan and Deborah Scanlan sold a three-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 3849 53rd Ave. S.W. in Southwest Seattle to Benjamin J. Stone and Deirdre L. Stone for $610,000 on Sept. 29.

The 2,427-square-foot house was built in 1999 in the Shanks Orchard View subdivision.

Mr. Scanlan is a principal at the law firm Skellenger Bender. He focuses his litigation practice in the areas of construction law, commercial litigation, appellate advocacy and the representation of design professionals, including architects and engineers.

He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association, and King County Bar Association. He has served on the KCBA judicial screening committee since 1999, and was co-chair of that committee for the 2002-2003 term. He also served on the WSBA court improvement committee.

He also is a frequent continuing education speaker for engineering and design professionals and recently co-authored a chapter on "The Design Professional and Tort Liability" in Design Professional And Construction Manager Law, a publication by the American Bar Association.

He holds a B.A. in economics from Seattle University (1984) and a J.D. from the Seattle University School of Law (1987).

Mr. Stone is a member of the insurance department at Cozen O'Connor.

He previously was an associate in the insurance coverage and employment litigation departments at Keller Rohrback LLP.

He received his bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Albany (1991) and his law degree from the Brooklyn Law School (1995).

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 723 home sales in Southwest Seattle in 2008, with a median sales price of $343,000.
