Art director, cancer researcher settle in Ballard

Medium 72ca166ec5ca565a236d7ca196805090 Jai and Amy Paguirigan bought a four-bedroom, two-bath home at 7708 19th Ave. N.W. in Ballard from Kane and Megan Mathis for $390,000 on Sept. 8.

Mathis paid $273,000 for the property in February 2003. The 1,290-square-foot home was built in 1926 in Burke & Farrars Columbia Park.

Mr. Paguirigan is an assistant art director at Pacific Studios in the Seattle area.

He previously was an exhibit design intern at University of Wisconsin-Madison. He also designed museum exhibits for Taylor Studios Inc. in Rantoul.

He graduated from Miami University in Ohio with a B.F.A. in architecture.

Ms. Paguirigan is a post-doctoral researcher at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

She previously was a research intern and design engineer at iCyt Visionary Bioscence.

She received a B.S. in biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a B.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering and cancer biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Mr. Mathis is an artist based in Seattle. He currently is an accompanist at the University of Washington.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 414 home sales in Ballard during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $414,500.
