Olga Palacios bought a six-bedroom, three-bath home at 5213 13th St. N.W. in Washington from Maria Elena Cruz and Fidel Gomez for $405,000 on Sept. 11.

Cruz and Gomez bought the property for $699,000 in Dec. 2006. The 1,611-square-foot house was built in 1921 in the 16th Street Heights neighborhood.

Ms. Palacios is a consultant at FICS, a privately held company that develops and provides financial software products and services for the international banking industry.

She earned her BBA in International Business from Loyola University–New Orleans and her MA in Economics from American University.

There were 4,143 home sales in Washington in 2008, with a median sales price of $375,000.
