Cancer institute investigator snags North Cleveland Park 3BD

Medium d8b9efa4fcb500d552579bd5f47d60ea Dr. Mitchell H. Gail and Ruth Pfeiffer bought a three-bedroom, two-bath home at 4407 35th St. N.W. in Washington from W. Lopez Helen and Lou Bradley Segner for $637,500 on Sept. 11.

The 1,500-square-foot house was built in 1950 in the North Cleveland Park neighborhood.

Dr. Gail is a senior investigator in the National Cancer Institute's Department of Cancer Epidemiology & Genetics. He joined NCI in 1969 and served as chief of the Biostatics Branch from 1994 to 2008.

He has received of several awards for his work in health statistics, applied statistical research and AIDS research. Most recently, he received the 2009 Distinguished Achievement Award from the American Society of Preventive Oncology.

He received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School and his Ph.D. in statistics from George Washington University.

According to, there were 4,143 home sales in Washington in 2008, with a median sales price of $375,000.
