Greenhouse specialist takes 16th Street Heights 3BD

Medium bb7ec7fb9ab893d87b52a26e523af065 Melissa Brizer and Charles Restivo bought a three-bedroom, one-bath home at 1351 Jefferson St. in Washington from Peggy Gilbert Bennett, Carlos Mejia and Peggy Gilbert Bennett Mejia for $607,000 on Sept. 11.

Bennett and Mejia paid $500,000 for the property in Jan. 2006. The 1,601-square-foot house was built in 1922 in the 16th Street Heights neighborhood.

Brizer is a greenhouse specialist at Dumbarton Oaks, an institute of Harvard University that works to support work in byzantine, garden and landscape, and pre-columbian studies.

Prior to that, she was a horticulturist at the Danish Embassy.

She received her bachelor's degree in art history from Mount Vernon College. She also attended the Historic Landscape Institute.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 4,143 home sales in Washington in 2008, with a median sales price of $375,000.
