Women's advocate buys 6BD in Mt. Pleasant

Medium afc21a083992be2f44e41380b384363b Tobie E. Whitman and Daniel J. Yates bought a six-bedroom, three-bath home at 1614 Hobart St. N.W. in Washington from Phillip and Elizabeth A. Ash for $880,000 on Sept. 28.

The Ashes paid $485,000 for the property in March 2009. The 2,580-square-foot house was built in 1914 in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood.

Whitman is a policy analyst and advocate at The Institute for Inclusive Security, which provides policymakers, activists and academics with strategies for including women in peace processes.

She attended Harvard University and the University of Cambridge.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 4,155 home sales in Washington in 2008, with a median sales price of $375,000.
