Charity program director sells in Le Droit Park

Medium e38f0e1d10a2516745a4e8e7f6211028 James H. Shelton, III, sold a seven-bedroom, one-bath home at 469 Florida Ave. N.W. in Washington to Angela R. Records and Stephen O. Records for $650,000 on Sept. 21.

Shelton acquired the house for $306,850 in Sept. 2001. The 1,965-square-foot house in the Le Droit Park neighborhood was built in 1900.

Shelton is a program director in the educational division at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

He previously was a partner and East Coast lead for the NewSchools Venture Fund. He also worked with the Chancellor of New York City Public Schools. He co-founded LearnNow, a school management company that later merged with Edison Schools and also was a senior management consultant with McKinsey & Co.

He received his bachelor's degree in computer science from Atlanta's Morehouse College and a master's degrees in business administration and education from Stanford University.

According to BlockShopper.com, there were 4,155 sales in Washington D.C. in 2008, with a median sales price of $315,000.
