Georgetown professor buys Takoma Park 3BD

Medium 087a77691a98bacf3fdfe468ebcdb2f2 Philip A. Kafalas and Mei Kong bought a three-bedroom, one-bath home at 713 Auburn Ave. in Takoma Park from Philip M. Schuler and Rachel Schmidt for $405,000 on Oct. 7.

The 1,470-square-foot house was built in 1941 in the Takoma Park South of Carroll Ave. neighborhood.

Mr. Kafalas is an associate professor in the department of East Asian languages and cultures at Georgetown University.

He earned his bachelor's degree in English and American literature and language from Harvard University. He received his M.A. in East Asian studies and Ph.D. in Asian languages from Stanford University.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 110 home sales in Takoma Park during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $414,500.
