Wildlife ecotourism exec takes 3BD in Petworth

Medium c40035aeed5b4f1d9968b3b15e3f7824 Toby Lynn Bloom bought a three-bedroom, two-bath home at 828 Emerson St. N.W. in Petworth from Angela Escobar and Ever Rafael Escobar for $250,000 on May 28.

The Escobars paid $481,000 for the property in Aug. 2007. The 1,660-square-foot house was built in 1925.

Ms. Bloom is director of wildlife ecotourism for Humane Society International, where she oversees existing capacity building programs in Latin America.

She previously was a sustainable tourism specialist for USAID projects, and has completed various sustainable tourism consultancies in Central America and the Andean countries of Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador. Earlier, she was an interpretive guide on national parks in the U.S. and Canada.

She received a master's degree in sustainable international development from Brandeis University (2004) and her bachelor's degree in Spanish and psychology from James Madison University (1996).

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 284 home sales in Petworth during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $282,500.
