Mortgage co. president nets $2.425M in North Haven

Medium 1bc5dd0559e0f00bdb9752b6a2cd7a62 Gary Bierfriend bought a five-bedroom, 5.5-bath home at 31 Redcoats Lane in North Haven from Gregory and Rachel Curto for $2.425 million on Sept. 9.

The Curtos paid $475,000 for the property in April 2006. The 4,482-square-foot home was built in 2008 in the West of Ferry Road neighborhood.

Bierfriend has been president of MortgageIT Inc., a New York City-headquartered residential mortgage banking company. He earlier was the company's president of wholesale lending division, as well as senior vice president and chief compliance officer.

He previously worked at IPI Skyscraper Mortgage Corp., where he was managing director, chief compliance officer and general counsel. He joined IPI Skyscraper Mortgage Corp., in 1992 as a loan officer and branch manager.

He received his B.B.A. in banking and finance from Hofstra University and his J.D. from the Thomas M. Cooley School of Law.

According to, there were eight sales in North Haven in 2008, with a median sales price of $2.2625 million.
