Retired investment consultant sells Kirkwood home

Robert L. Virgil, Jr., and his wife, Geraldine, sold a five-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 335 Parkwoods Ave. in Kirkwood to Chad Loegering and his wife, Sarah B. Slaughter, for $365,000 on Nov. 12.

The 2,650-square-foot house was built in 1960.

Mr. Virgil had served as partner at the St. Louis-headquartered Edward Jones. He retired in 2005.

Prior to joining Edward Jones in 1993, Mr. Virgil taught accounting at the Olin School of Business at Washington University, where he also served as dean from 1977 to 1993. He was an executive vice chancellor for university relations at Washington University as well.

He earned his B.A. from Beloit College in Wisconsin in 1956 and served the U.S. Army for two years. He received his M.B.A. from Washington University in 1960.

Mrs. Virgil is a member of the Philanthropic Educational Organization and a supporter of Kirkwood Meals on Wheels.

The Bob and Gerry Virgil Endowed Scholarship of the Olin School of Business was created in their honor.

There have been 483 sales in Kirkwood in 2008 with median sales price of $196,500.
