Neurosurgeon unloads University City 4BD

Medium bbf96312afffede64c2ba9d5dfc493b3 Dr. Gregory J. Zipfel and his wife, Mary, sold a four-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 6931 Amherst Ave. in University City to Rachel B. Delston and Matthew G. Byron for $409,000 on July 10.

The Zipfels paid $408,500 for the property in June 2004. The 2,034-square-foot house in the University Heights subdivision was built in 1907.

Dr. Zipfel is an assistant professor of neurosurgery and neurology at the Washington University School of Medicine. He specializes in brain aneurysms, vascular malformations, stroke and brain tumors. He is also affiliated with Barnes Jewish Hospital.

He received his M.D. from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He completed his residency in neurological surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine and his fellowship at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

Delston is a graduate student in the department of ophthalmology and visual sciences at Washington University School of Medicine. Previously, she worked at the University of California in San Francisco.

She received her degree in biology and biochemistry from Oberlin College.

There were 712 home sales in University City in 2008, with a median sales price of $151,000.
