Investor spends $3.25M in Manhattan Beach

Medium fc0f3d2e48145cb8ba8804bb65d22741 William M. Barnum and his wife, Donnalisa, bought the four-bedroom, three-bath home at 133 17th St. in Manhattan Beach from Sonia and Bruce A. Friedman for $3.25 million on Feb. 25.

The Friedmans paid $1.44 million for the property in 1998.

The 2,047-square-foot house is in West Manhattan Beach.

Mr. Barnum is a partner at Brentwood Associates, a Los Angeles investment firm. He currently holds executive roles in companies such as Filson Holdings, ThreeSixty Asia, Ariat International, Oriental Trading Co., Zoës Kitchen and Zumiez, and Quiksilver, Inc.

Previously, he worked with the investment banking division at Morgan Stanley & Co. He obtained his bachelor's from Stanford University and his M.B.A. from Stanford Graduate School of Business. He received his J.D. from Stanford Law School.

Mrs. Barnum has served as a senior vice president of Capital World Investors. She has worked in the investment management area of capital research, where she has served as portfolio counselor.

She earned her bachelor's from Stanford University.

There were 308 home sales in Manhattan Beach in 2008, with a median sales price of $1.5225 million.
