It is not difficult to find a pharmacy these days. Chain drugstores are seemingly on every corner and most new supermarkets contain them, but a local pharmacy in Magnolia believes they have what it takes to separate themselves from the pack.

Magnolia Pharmacy was founded in 2002 by Steve Hoffart, PharmD, who was eager to build more than a traditional pharmacy. This is seen while visiting the pharmacy where staff dons scrubs and the atmosphere is more along the lines of a doctor’s office than just another section of the grocery store.

“We are very customer oriented,” said Mary Hoffart, the office manager of the pharmacy. “Customer service is very important to us. We spend more time with each patient, giving consultations and inquiring about changing medications, if needed.”

Hoffart points out that Magnolia Pharmacy offers more than most drug stores because they have a compounding lab, which allows the pharmacist to customize the medication for specific patient needs, and a sterile lab. The pharmacy also stocks the latest home medical equipment.

“We invite patients to listen to various guest speakers we bring in,” said Hoffart. “We also offer supplements and alternatives to prescription drugs online, something most drugstores cannot offer.”
