Scrap metal company exec buys 2BD in Surfside

Medium aea24a9543eb7c0b0de3858d5aeb2e0b Carlos E. Aguero bought a two-bedroom, 2.5-bath condo at 9401 Collins Ave. in Surfside from Luis M. Espinosa and wife, Raquel, for $632,000 on Oct. 9.

Luis and Raquel Espinosa acquired Unit #604 for $675,000 in Nov. 2005. The 1,956-square-foot condo is part of the Azure development, which was built in 2005 in the Seaside Surfside neighborhood.

Aguero is the founder of Metalico Inc., a scrap metal processor. He has served as chairman, president, chief executive officer and director of the company. Prior to this, he was president, chief executive officer and director of Continental Waste Industries Inc., a company he founded in 1988.

He earned his B.S. degree from Upsala College.

According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 79 condo sales in Surfside during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $315,000.
