Douglas Brouwer and his wife, Susan C. DeYoung, bought a four-bedroom, two-bath home at 1726 N.E. Seventh St. in Fort Lauderdale from Daniel and Patricia McCarty for $510,000 on Oct. 2.
The McCartys paid $679,000 for the property in May 2005. The 1,911-square-foot home in the Fort Lauderdale East neighborhood was built in 1936.
Brouwer is a senior pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale. He is the author of I Heard It at the Potluck, Remembering the Faith: What Christians Believe, Beyond 'I Do': What Christians Believe about Marriage and What Am I Supposed to do With My Life?
He previously served as pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor and he was a pastor in Wheaton, Ill., Hopewell, N.J. and Harrisburg, Pa.
He has a bachelor's degree from Calvin College. He earned both his master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary.
According to BlockShopper.com, there have been 3,724 sales in Fort Lauderdale during the past 12 months, with a median sales price of $180,000.
