Pastor gets Fort Lauderdale 4BD

Medium c4b068a14ba98d4f81dbab8f3fd329e4 Douglas Brouwer and his wife, Susan C. DeYoung, bought a four-bedroom, two-bath home at 1726 N.E. Seventh St. in Fort Lauderdale from Daniel and Patricia McCarty for $510,000 on Oct. 2.

The McCartys paid $679,000 for the property in May 2005. The 1,911-square-foot home in the Fort Lauderdale East neighborhood was built in 1936.

Brouwer is a senior pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale. He is the author of I Heard It at the Potluck, Remembering the Faith: What Christians Believe, Beyond 'I Do': What Christians Believe about Marriage and What Am I Supposed to do With My Life?

He previously served as pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor and he was a pastor in Wheaton, Ill., Hopewell, N.J. and Harrisburg, Pa.

He has a bachelor's degree from Calvin College. He earned both his master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary.
