Futures broker spends $1.09 million on Orleans

William Mallers Jr. and his wife, Brooke Royse Mallers, bought a three-bedroom, 2.1 bath in Lincoln Park at 1807 N. Orleans for $1.09 million from Giovanni Maggiora and Ilaria Calo on Nov. 23.

Maggiora and Calo paid $990,000 for Unit #3S in Aug. 2004.

The property was on the market for $1.2 million.

Mr. Mallers served as president of First American Discount Corporation, a futures brokerage in Chicago. The firm, which was the world's largest family owned and operated futures retailer, was purchased by ED&F Man International Inc.

His father, Bill Mallers Sr., was the founder of First American Discount Corp. and a former chairman of the Chicago Board of Trade.

Calo has served as a vice president at Citigroup.
