Indians shortstop Peralta buys in Westlake

Cleveland Indians shortstop Jhonny Peralta bought a four-bedroom, three-bath home at 27940 Berringer Run in Westlake on June 9, 2006 for $738,900 from Latina & Latina Builders, Inc.

The 3,847-square-foot home was built in 2003.

Peralta was signed as an un-drafted free agent by the Indians in 1999, and in 2004 he was named the Player of the Year in the International League.

In 2005, he became the Indians starting shortstop at the age of 23, and proceeded to set team records for shortstops with 24 home runs and 78 RBIs. Last season, Peralta set career highs in runs (104), hits (167) and RBIs (89).

Prior to the 2006 season, Cleveland signed Peralta to a five-year contract worth a reported $13 million. The contract includes a $7 million option for the 2011 season.

In a 2006 interview with the Santo Domingo Times, the native Dominican claimed he was the only person named "Jhonny." Peralta and his wife, Molly, were married in 2007.

There have been 108 sales in Westlake thus far in 2008. The median sales price is at $220,000.
