Playwright, professor sells in Summerlin South for $1.2M

Dr. Daniel S.P. Yang and his wife, Cecilia, sold a four-bedroom, 4.5 bath at 11556 Timber Mountain Ave. in Summerlin South to Robert Barnhart for $1.2 million on Jan. 20, 2006.

The Yangs paid $590,290 for the property in June 2003. The 3,455 square foot house, which is located in the Red Rock Country Club at Summerlin, was built the same year.

Yang, an author and playwright, is a professor emeritus of theater at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He has been on the faculty since 1967.

A member of the International Shakespeare Conference at Stratford-upon-Avon, he has authored 16 plays and translations, including six Shakespeare's plays. He's directed 60 plays, including a 1980 production of Love's Labour's Lost that showcased Annette Bening. He has also written seven books in both Chinese and English.

Yang received his degree in foreign languages and literature at National Taiwan University, an M.F.A in directing from the University of Hawaii-Manoa and a Ph.D. in theater from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Home sales in Summerlin South dropped four percent in 2007 versus sales in 2006. The median sales price also fell from $466,000 to $425,000.
