"Entourage" creator sells Beverly Crest abode

Doug Ellin and his wife, Melissa, sold a four-bedroom, three-bath home at 1297 N. Beverly Dr. in Beverly Crest to Debra and Martin Marcus for $1.5 million on Jan. 15.

The Ellins paid $810,000 for the property in June 1998.

Mr. Ellin is the creator of the popular HBO television series "Entourage." He also serves as executive producer and head writer for the Emmy-winning show, which stars Jeremy Piven and Adrian Grenier.

Earlier in his Hollywood career, he wrote the screenplays for the films Kissing a Fool and Phat Beach. He was also a staff writer for the TV show "Life with Bonnie."

He was as a stand-up comedian early in his career and worked in the mailroom of New Line Cinema. He is originally from New York City and attended the American Film Institute and Tulane University

Mrs. Ellin has worked a sales associate at Swat-Fame, Inc., a children's clothing manufacturer. She graduated from the University of Arizona.

The Ellins paid $5.93 million for a home in Beverly Crest in August.

There were 161 home sales in Beverly Crest with a median sales price of $1.395 million.
