Country music artists Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood bought the 3,711-square-foot home at 28020 Sea Lane Dr. in Malibu from Michael J. Abbott for $4.95 million on June 24, 2008.

Abbott paid $2.1 million for the property in Sept. 2003. The home, which was built in 1958, is in the Central Malibu neighborhood.

Brooks has had a successful career in the country music industry since the release of his debut album Garth Brooks in 1989. Brooks has released 19 records and 77 singles in his career, and has sold an estimated 220 million copies in his career. He was named the best-selling solo artist of the 20th century in America by the Recording Industry Association of America.

He is known for such songs as: "Friends in Low Places," "The Thunder Rolls," "She’s Every Woman" and "Unanswered Prayers." Brooks officially retired in 2001, but has sporadically released new tracks since.

Yearwood is a successful country singer who debuted in 1991 with the No. 1 single "She’s in Love with the Boy." Later that year she became the first female country music singer to have a debut album go platinum.

In her career, Yearwood has released 10 studio albums and charted 38 singles on the Billboard "Hot Country Songs" chart.

Most recently, Yearwood has dabbled in the culinary arts and released her first cookbook Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen (Recipes From My Family to Yours) earlier this year.

Yearwood and Brooks have been close friends since the early 1990s. They married in 2005.

There were 126 sales in Malibu in 2008, with a median sales price of $2,332,500.
