Mel Gibson, David Duchovny swap $11.5M 4BD

Medium 73731909d3dd06c4a6f9eba92198a179 Mel Gibson bought a four-bedroom, four-bath home at 22313 Carbon Mesa Road in Malibu from David Duchovny and Téa Leoni for $11.5 million on July 15, 2008.

The 6,578-square-foot home was built in 1996. It is in the Las Flores neighborhood.

Gibson is an actor whose films have grossed more than $2 billion in the United States. He received an Academy Award and Golden Globe for Best Director and starred in the 1995 hit Braveheart.

After graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney in 1977, he began filming Mad Max, an internationally successful film that would spawn two sequels. He rose to stardom in the United States in the late 1980s due to the success of the Lethal Weapon films.

Gibson has focused more on producing and directing films as of late, including the controversial 2004 film The Passion of the Christ and the 2006 film Apocalypto. He was also given screenwriting credits for both of those films.

Duchovny
is best known as FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder on "The X-Files". The popular television drama ran for nine seasons and was the basis of the 1998 film The X-Files: Fight the Future. He now stars in the Showtime series "Californication."

He and Leoni were married in May 1997.

Leoni
is an actress who has appeared in a number of films, including Bad Boys, Deep Impact, The Family Man, Jurassic Park III, Hollywood Ending, Spanglish and Ghost Town.
