Pete Sampras drops $5.6M on new Brentwood digs

Tennis great Pete Sampras and his wife, actress Bridgette Wilson, bought a six-bedroom, 5.5-bath at 636 Tuallitan Road in Brentwood for $5.6 million from James Miller on Dec. 23.

Miler paid $1.815 million for the property in Feb. 2007.

Sampras , 38, is widely considered one of the greatest players in tennis history, amassing 14 Grand Slam men's singles titles during a 15-year career that ended with his retirement in 2003. His mark of 14 Grand Slam titles was surpassed by Roger Federer in 2009, but his seven Wimbledon titles from 1993-2000 is still a record, as is his mark of eight consecutive wins in Grand Slam finals from 1995-2000. He's also tied for the most U.S. Open titles (5), and he's the only player to end the year ranked No. 1 by the ATP for six consecutive years (1993-1998).

Sampras turned pro at the age of 16 in 1988, and won his first Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open in 1990. He attained the world's No. 1 ranking for the first time in 1993 and won his first Wimbledon title later that year. By the time he retired, he had amassed a 762-222 record and more than $43 million in prize money. He was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2007.

Sampras is originally from Washington, D.C. but spent the bulk of his adolescence in Palos Verdes, Calif.

Wilson, 36, is perhaps best known for her role as the title character's tempting third grade teacher in the 1995 Adam Sandler comedy Billy Madison. She also appeared in the film incarnation of the video game smash Mortal Kombat later that year, and in the 1997 teen slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer. She was also named Miss Teen USA in 1990.
