Teurfs is a principal at Consultant. He previously served as executive vice president and chief financial officer at Hamptons State Bank. Before that, he was chief financial officer at Clarity Bank and senior vice president and corporate secretary at The Long Island Savings Bank. Earlier, he was a partner at KPMG Audit.

He holds an M.B.A. in finance from New York University Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a B.B.A. in accounting from the City University of New York Baruch College.
