President-Elect John F. Kennedy owned this house in 1961. He became President in 1961 and was assassinated in 1963. Kennedy was the first and only Catholic President, only President to win a Pulitzer Prize, and the first President born in the 20th Century. Jacqueline Kennedy gave birth to the couple's first child, Caroline, in 1957 while they were living here.
