Howard Benson was a retired U.S. Naval officer in 1947 when he owned this house. Lieutenant Commander Benson was awarded the Navy Cross for distinguished service as commanding officer of the U.S.S. Corona and the U.S.S. Roe during World War I. He passed away in 1975.
