Economist Gardner (Hugh) Ackley owned this house in 1967. He was an economics advisor to United States Presidents of the United States John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. Ackley was chairman of the Presidents Council of Economic Advisors from 1964 to 1968. He was also a member of the economics department at the University of Michigan for 43 years. Ackley passed away in 1998.
