Government official who played a vital role in "New Deal" social programs lived in this building

Former U.S. Commissioner of Social Security (1946 to 1953) Arthur Altmeyer lived in this building in 1967. He was also chairman of the Social Security Board from 1937 to 1946. Altmeyer was one of the most influential figures of "New Deal" social programs introduced by President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt. He passed away in 1972.
