U.S. Postmaster General John Gronouski owned this house in 1967. He was Postmaster general from 1963 until being named U.S. Ambassador to Poland in 1965. As Postmaster General he was steadfast in his committment to end racial discrimination in postal employment. Gronouski also championed the change to a five digit ZIP code. He was the first dean at the Johnson School in Austin, Texas and passed away in 1996.
