Most powerful woman in publishing owned this house

Longtime publisher of the Washington Post, Katherine Graham, owned this house in 1967. She joined the Post in 1939 and became president in 1963. Graham built the Washington Post into a nationally respected newspaper. She named legendary journalist, Benjamin Bradlee, managing editor in 1965 and she became publisher in 1969. Graham was widely considered to be the most powerful woman in publishing. She passed away in 2001 and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2002.
